Synopsis

Season 1 of Big White Duel is set against the backdrop of Ming Shing North Hospital, the largest public hospital in Hong Kong. The story centers on healthcare system reform and the ideological conflicts among medical professionals. The plot follows the newly appointed Deputy Hospital Chief, Dr. Yeung Yat-to (played by Roger Kwok), as he advocates for the implementation of a "universal healthcare scheme." Through this, the series explores the ethical dilemmas, power struggles, and moral choices brought about by institutional change. A series of intense medical incidents and emergency cases further highlights the constant struggle doctors face between professional duty, political intrigue, and personal emotion.

TONG MING performs surgery for CHUNG-HOK privately. Unfortunately, while removing the tumor, he notices that the cancer cells spread to his spine, leaving him no other choice but to stop the surgery. All of them know that only through YAT-TO’s help can CHUNG-HOK have a higher survival rate. OI-LING tries to convince her father to let go of his prejudice against the healthcare reform, unfortunately, CHUNG-HOK insists on doing everything his own way, refusing to let YAT-TO be the chief surgeon. After YAT-TO frankly tells TONG MING that he knew the current situation of CHUNG-HOK, TONG MING invites him to jointly perform the surgery, to which YAT-TO proposes his one and only condition. TONG MING contacts MING-CHEUNG on the sly while disclosing the condition of CHUNG-HOK to the management of Marshall Paxton.
