They reveal a decade of highs and lows: Bill Clinton swept into office on the promise of change; we all made new "Friends"; the LA Riots kept us glued to our TVs; Nirvana gave Generation X a voice but everyone danced the Macarena; and "The Real World" and Jerry Springer changed the television programming landscape. From there, the miniseries charts the soap operas of Bill Clinton's nomination and Roseanne Barr's fights with her network; the unlikely rise of Vanilla Ice and Kurt Cobain; and the revolutionary broadcasts that transformed the LA Riots, the Anita Hill hearings and the trial of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer into major TV events.
Ep. 2: Friends and Enemies (2014-07-07)

In the second installment, America becomes ever more divided and fragmented. In Waco, Texas, a religious cult becomes a lightning rod for a fear of big government invading our homes. The awful sight of dead American soldiers being dragged through the streets of Somalia's capital divides America on its role in the world. Even in women's figure skating we find ourselves divided along class lines with the Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan saga and with the rise of Jerry Springer's reality show.
