Ep. 1: First case
April You play as a high school student who has been sent to live for a year in the rural town of Inaba with your uncle, Ryotaro Dojima, a detective, and your young cousin, Nanako. The town is quiet, often shrouded in thick fog, and feels worlds away from the bustling city.
-
Ep. 2: Expanding the team
May - June The killer shifts targets. New faces on the Midnight Channel aren't just victims—they're people whose hidden, controversial truths are weaponized by the TV World. By rescuing and accepting them, the Investigation Team unintentionally recruits the killer's intended pawns, turning targets into crucial allies. Each expansion reveals the killer is targeting specific human emotions, deepening the mystery.
-
Ep. 3: Cultural festival
July - September A sudden, boastful confession of the murders creates a false sense of closure. The team captures a distorted individual, but the case feels hollow—the motive is nonsense, and the supernatural elements remain unexplained. This "culprit" is a red herring, forcing the team to confront a chilling truth: they are lost, with no real leads, while the true killer watches from the shadows.
-
Ep. 4: The missing killer
October - November Following the hollow capture of the false culprit, a genius detective arrives to officially "solve" the case. When this very detective then appears on the Midnight Channel, it shatters all assumptions. Rescuing them reveals the killer's masterstroke: they have been manipulating the investigation from the start, using its rules against the team.
-
Ep. 5: The truth
November - December With the true culprit finally exposed, their motive is a nihilistic deal: accept a comforting lie or pursue a painful truth that risks everything. Choosing truth means rejecting a world of illusions, confronting a god of emptiness feeding on humanity's desire for ignorance, and fighting to prove that bonds and reality—flaws and all—are worth protecting. The fog is the final enemy.
-
Ep. 6: True culmination
December After the hollow victory, the Investigation Team chooses to reject the easy lie. They launch a final heist into the heart of distortion to confront the true mastermind—not a person, but a nihilistic god of emptiness born from humanity's collective desire for ignorance. This final battle is not just to save a friend or a town, but to affirm the value of truth, bonds, and reality itself, no matter how painful, against the allure of a comforting fog.
-
Ep. 7: Golden epilogue
February - March Premise: Weeks after the ordeal, a final test arrives. An ally's past trauma manifests as a decaying dungeon that erases memories—a last echo of the fog's threat. The team's ultimate mission isn't to fight a god, but to reclaim a soul and prove their bonds are stronger than the void. Their true reward is a precious, extended spring of peaceful days and proper goodbyes before the journey home.
-
Ep. 8: True golden ending
March After rejecting emptiness and saving a soul from oblivion, you earn one last, golden spring. The epilogue deepens: you don't just say goodbye. You witness the lasting impact of your bonds on Inaba's future, share a final, profound connection with the Velvet Room, and receive a promise that the Investigation Team's truth—and the protagonist's place within it—is eternal. The door to this world never truly closes.
