Synopsis
A college student's secret crush on a coworker at a small burger joint collides with chaos when a robbery erupts, unraveling hidden tensions and forcing a tight-knit group of eight to confront fractured loyalties and the blurred lines between love and betrayal.

Ep. 1: Making Names for Ourselves
One day, a robber bursts into the burger joint where the sullen college student Tonari (Koshi Mizukami), the temperamental troublemaker Mizumachi (Anna Yamada) and six others work.

Synanthrope's eight employees throw a welcome party for their new coworker, Shizawa. While the group enjoys a follow-up round of karaoke, Tonari unknowingly passes by the robber from the day before.

When the group is told the shop is closing down, Mizumachi says she wants to run it herself. Everyone seems in favor, except for Kanna, who says she's quitting.

Tonari and company reopen Synanthrope but have trouble getting customers. Meanwhile, Orita picks the next target in his quest to find The Woodpecker.

Memories of when she was locked up at five years old run through Mizumachi's mind as she spends the night once again at Satomi's apartment. Meanwhile, Orita and his crew abduct a certain man.

The morning after someone appears to sneak into Synanthrope, Mizumachi grills Tonari about his whereabouts the night before, which he mistakes for her expressing jealousy.

Synanthrope sees lines out the door for its half-off event. Meanwhile, Ryuji and Kyutaro get ready to take out the Woodpecker for Orita.

Synanthrope was vandalized and a "Bring me the Woodpecker" message was left on the wall. Faced with the disastrous sight, Kanna admits to leaking information to Orita.

Tonari (Koshi Mizukami) spots Ryuji (Yuya Endo) out in the woods. In a panic, he puts on a mask, but Ryuji winds up chasing him down anyway. Mid-chase, however, they stumble across a shocking sight.
