Synopsis
Narumi Yamaguchi, a single woman who enjoyed her independent life, suddenly started dating after her admired aunt died alone. After failing to find a partner and being bluntly told by her younger colleague Yuya Nasuda that "marriage security is outdated thinking", she shifted focus from marriage hunting to end-of-life planning.

Narumi's father, Kazuo, didn't see why his single daughter shouldn't quit her job to look after him should he need care. But once Nasuda confronts him with harsh truths about modern elder care, he begins to rethink things. Narumi can't rejoice for long, though—her mother seems to be contemplating divorce, and Narumi's late-aunt Mitsuko is apparently partly to blame!

Narumi attempts to talk her mother out of divorce, but instead stokes the flames. Meanwhile, with new interest in end of life prep, her father declares he will start investing. Nasuda warns that investment in old age can be risky, and the two attempt to stop him. Noticing her dependence on Nasuda, Narumi decides to do some things for herself and goes to see her ex.

Eliminating unnecessary costs is a key part of end-of-life prep. Narumi decides to meet her ex, an insurance agent, to go over the plan he set her up with. After so many years, her heart races when she first sees him—successful and eye-catching. Meanwhile, Nasuda grows uneasy about the whole situation and decides the best way to get Narumi's attention is to give her none.

Intrigued by his silent treatment, Narumi tries to get Nasuda's attention. But that is exactly what he wanted. He learned to manipulate others from his neglectful parents. He admits his feelings for her, explaining how he believed being together with Narumi would allow him to be "normal". Meanwhile, Narumi's family is in a fuss after her father declares he is selling the house.
