Synopsis
In the fictional Scottish Highlands town of Glenntannoch, Dr Gordon Urquhart leads a mountain rescue team, whose major missions and incidents are based on real life ones conducted by the Lochaber Mountain Rescue service.

Ep. 1: Situation: Critical
Doughan underestimates the danger involved after he finds himself balanced on the edge of a rockface whilst attempting to rescue a fallen photographer. The team come to the aid of a man who has ruptured his spleen after tripping over while out walking, but are forced into an agonising wait for a helicopter to arrive. McLanaghan has to aid a diabetic in danger of going into a coma. Caroline Morrison wants to join the team, but they're wary as her father has donated money to the mountain rescue service.

Ep. 2: Episode 2
Bayliss tries to rescue a girl trapped in a cave, but finds the only way out is to crawl through a series of tunnels. Doughan, McLanaghan and Annie Craig come to the aid of a group of fallen rope climbers. Doughan is displeased to discover that his mother is consulting at the hospital. Annie faces a tough test. Despite their differences, McLanaghan and Nurse Helen decide to go out for a meal.

Ep. 3: Episode 3
The team attempt to rescue two boys who have become stranded above a waterfall. Morrison and Doughan get chatting at her father's party. Urquhart's daughter Kirsty returns from university, sparking further problems for McLanaghan. Ben Craig finds it difficult to accept Morrison onto the team.

Ep. 4: Episode 4
The team dress up as early 20th-century rescuers to raise funds, but are sidetracked by a woman with MS who has become stranded whilst trying to take in the stunning views. McLanaghan resigns as deputy when he is told that he will have to take his rescue days of out of his annual leave. Morrison rescues a man who has fallen and whose wound is infected, only to discover that he is the son of McLanaghan's boss. After her feat, Morrison is voted onto the team, with special recommendation from Ben.

Ep. 5: Episode 5
Annie and Ben are out on the hills, searching for a chopper which has crashed. When they find it, they're taken hostage by the survivors, whose leader is an escaped prisoner who forces them to take him to his pickup point. Meanwhile, the remaining team members rescue a man who has fallen from Dragon's Tooth Sea Stack.

Ep. 6: Episode 6
Urquhart's wife Alice plans a surprise party for his birthday. Peter begins to worry about Annie and Ben, and sets out to look for them. Urquhart and McLanaghan go to rescue some monks trapped on a hill, but are faced with a life or death situation after being caught in the middle of a rockfall.
