Ep. 1: Detective Salaryman's First Difficult Case
It's Aoshima's first day on the job as a detective. When a report of a murder comes in, he is filled with excitement, causing annoyance to his more seasoned colleagues. Aoshima soon discovers that local detectives take a back seat in murder investigations, mirroring the bureaucratic suppression he faced as a salaryman.

Mr. Waku is informed that he might be the target of a detective killer out for revenge. Meanwhile, Aoshima has to fend off an insurance saleswoman, try to help a crime victim speak, take Sumire out to eat, and avoid being blown up.

Aoshima stands up to headquarters to keep Yukino out of their clutches. His stunt has bought him 48 hours to clear her. Can he and Waku find the suspect in time?

The high ups are using it as a test case for a group of hotshot profilers bent on making detectives obsolete. Meanwhile, Sumire and Yukino help a young victim of a burglary while her dad is away.
