Biography

Patrick Cabanillas was born on August 30, 2003, in Iquitos, Peru, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. He lived there until early 2023, when he moved to Lima to study Audiovisual Communications at UPC, completing his degree in mid-2026. His interest in filmmaking began in childhood, staging small scenes and shooting videos with his toys long before he understood it as a craft. Raised on the stories his grandmother and great-grandmother told him, Amazonian mythology has shaped his imagination for as long as he can remember, and it continues to drive his pull toward the fantastical and the oneiric — cinema that makes tangible the worlds and situations that reality alone cannot hold. Ikaro Rojo is his most recent short film, born from that same tradition.
