Biography
Oliwier Kołodziejczyk (pronounced OH-lee-vyer Ko-wo-djey-chik) is an independent filmmaker. He often writes, directs, shoots, edits and stars in his own short films. His student project, Meurtre du tableau (2025), has been watched by audiences around the world and screened at film events, receiving positive feedback. Fascinated by aesthetics, mysterious and surreal storytelling, his work is inspired by filmmakers like David Lynch and Wes Anderson. In 2026, Kołodziejczyk released Cure for Loneliness, a video essay, as a part of the international Elegy Apokalypto anthology. His latest black-and-white short horror film, Midnight Knocks at the Door, premiered later that year. In June 2026, the film’s trailer received an official nomination and nominee laurels for Trailer of the Month at The Monthly Film Festival (TMFF). This highly experimental film further demonstrates how the continuous use of a 4:3 format and telling stories through visuals rather than dialogue has helped define his characteristic directorial style.
