Joseph Samuel Jacobson (born July 16, 2004), known professionally as Joey Jacobson, is an American director, writer, and editor. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, Jacobson is the founder of Jacobson Pictures, an independent production company dedicated to bold, character-driven, and visually distinctive storytelling. A 2026 graduate of Drexel University's Film & Television program, Jacobson's senior thesis film, Static Windows (2026), is a satirical psychological horror film exploring media, corruption, the insurance industry and the erosion of truth. His work is recognized for blending surreal imagery, psychological tension, and emotionally layered narratives, often examining themes of identity, humanity, and perception. While at Drexel, Jacobson wrote and directed the short films Waiting Room (2024) and In Passing (2025), establishing a reputation for ambitious, concept-driven filmmaking. Following graduation, he continued developing independent projects with The Ambersons (2026), a surreal short film about a man in the 1960s attempting to live a normal suburban life while raising a family of department store mannequins. Jacobson continues to write, direct, and edit independent films, with a focus on original stories that combine psychological depth, dark satire, and striking visual style.
