Biography
Kārlis Bergs is a Latvian-American filmmaker and editor based in Brooklyn, NY, with an MFA from CalArts. His feature documentary Weeping Rocks premiered at IDFA 2025, where it was nominated for the First Feature Award and the FIPRESCI Award. The film received support from the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Allan Sekula Social Documentary Grant, and was selected for the Ji.hlava New Visions Forum. Following its premiere, the film traveled to Jeonju International Film Festival and Guanajuato International Film Festival, where it screened in the International Documentary Competition. He is currently developing his debut fiction feature Horror and Peace Rule the World, produced by Alise Ģelze for White Pictures. As an editor, Bergs cut Family Portrait, directed by Lucy Kerr, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival (2023).
