Biography
Toby Kearton (born June 20, 1997) is an English film director and screenwriter. His films frequently focus on moral dilemmas, ethical choices in wartime and crisis situations. His work has screened worldwide, with selections at BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festivals. His breakout short 'Dissonance' (2018) premiered at the Court Métrage at the Cannes Film Festival. He is known for his historical dramas of the short form, with 'Kamerad' (2024) 'The Dust Child' (2018) and 'The Little Picture' (2018) having earned 30+ awards, with the latter reaching over 860k YouTube views. A graduate of the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, Kearton has showcased range across projects including the veteran mental health PSA 'Hidden Wounds' (2022), 'Pricks' (2023) adapted from the play of the same name and the documentary short 'Dick Dangerfield: Defending Drama'. He has written and directed the TV pilot 'Livin’ with the Devil' (2026) which is available on demand. His debut feature 'Sweet Nothings', is currently in post production.
