Biography
Evangelia Samiotaki (real name: Evangelia Kalogirou née Sakoulas, 3 June 1935 – 11 March 2017) was a Greek actress. She was born in 1935 in Lamia. Her father was the folk singer Kostas Samiotakis. Evangelia completed her compulsory education in Thebes and then studied at the Drama School of the National Theatre. Her first theatrical appearance was in 1955 in Erotokritos by Nikos Hadjiskos. After graduating, she played roles from Attic comedies for 17 consecutive years, mainly by Aristophanes in Epidaurus. She was even Alexis Solomos' favorite actress in the role of Lampito in the play Lysistrata. She collaborated with the State Theatre of Northern Greece since 1965, while since 1978 she has been involved in independent theatre. She herself has produced theatre productions for 17 years, while touring Australia, the United States and Canada. She has participated in many series and films, both Greek and foreign. Her husband from 1952 to 2009 was Spyros Kalogirou. She taught acting at the Diomedes Photiadis Drama School, while in the last years before her death she suffered from health problems in her left leg. (Source: Wikipedia)
