Biography

Karin Viard (born in 1966 in Rouen) is a French actress. After training in drama in Rouen and later in Paris, she made her screen debut in the early 1990s, notably appearing in Étienne Chatiliez's Tatie Danielle (1990) and Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro's Delicatessen (1991). She gained public recognition with Philippe Harel's comedy Hiking (Les Randonneurs, 1997). Throughout her career, she has alternated between comedies, dramas, and stage productions. She has won three César Awards: Best Actress for Sólveig Anspach's Haut les cœurs ! (1999), and two César Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Michel Blanc's Summer Things (Embrassez qui vous voudrez, 2002) and Andréa Bescond and Éric Métayer's Little Tickles (Les Chatouilles, 2018). Her filmography also includes critical and commercial successes such as The Role of Her Life (Le Rôle de sa vie, 2004), Polisse (2011), The Bélier Family (La Famille Bélier, 2014), Jalouse (2017), and Madame de Sévigné (2024).
