Biography
Hans Lietzau was a German actor, theatre director, and artistic director who worked at major German speaking theatres and led institutions like the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Staatlichen Schauspielbühnen Berlin. He staged both classic and contemporary plays, including several productions invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen, and also directed films and radio plays. Lietzau was married to actress Carla Hagen and left a substantial artistic legacy of photographs and documents now preserved at the Berlin Academy of Arts.
