Alexandra Moen
Known For: Acting
Biography
Alexandra Moen was born in Pisa, Italy. Having an oceanographer as a father meant that she and her family (a teacher mother and two younger brothers) travelled along with his work. At age six, she moved to Canada and then to Bermuda and finally ending up in England where she completed her schooling. She studied English at Leeds University before studying acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She made her professional stage debuts in the West End's production of 'Macbeth' directed by Edward Hall in 2002 and also in 2003 performing as "Nina" at the Chichester Theatre in Steven Pimlott's critically acclaimed production of Chekhov's 'The Seagull'. Her first lead role in a TV series was in 2006 performing as "Tamsin Dalgliesh" in Tripping Over and then as "Emily James" in the final two seasons of BBC's hit comedy drama Hotel Babylon. To many sci-fi fans she is probably best known for her appearance in 'Doctor Who' doing something the doctor failed to rid the world of his great enemy, the Master. More recently, she has brought the quirky Norwegian pathologist "Petra Bergen" to our small screen, starring in all three series of Sky Atlantic's 'Fortitude' until 2018. In 2019 she took over playing "Elizabeth of York" from Jodie Comer, in the Philippa Gregory adaptation Spanish Princess for Starz and played "Simone Cameron", the dedicated ballet teacher in BBC's hit series 'Dublin Murders'.
