La foto (2025)

Synopsis

November 1975. In a room at Madrid’s La Paz Hospital, Francisco Franco’s only son-in-law takes photographs of the dying dictator, surrounded by machines, electrodes and tubes. These images, which Franco would never have allowed, shattered the all-powerful aura of the man who had ruled Spain with an iron fist for 40 years. This documentary uncovers the story behind these controversial photographs, challenging for the first time the established account of their history and revealing how, nine years later, they reached the cover of a magazine that was forced to close in the wake of the scandal.
