Parasocial (2026)
Synopsis
After achieving breakout success in Hollywood, actor Claire Watson returns to her childhood friends for a dinner party, hoping for a brief escape from the exhaustion of fame. Instead of a warm welcome of familiarity, she is met with an unsettling intensity. Their nostalgia feels rehearsed, their admiration excessive, and a sentimental presentation of their past becomes uncomfortably centred on Claire’s fame. Claire's perspective on her past must be confronted, as this is not what she remembers it being like, where her friends always this way? As the night wears on, small disturbances escalate into violence as the group reveal their true nature. She must now not only battle her conflicting thoughts on nostalgia but also for her own life, as her friends shed any resemblance of humanity and become parasites willing to do whatever it takes to drag Claire to their level.
